Men’s Health
At HearMed Medical Centre, we provide a full range of healthcare services specifically for men’s health needs. Many health conditions experienced by men are preventable or can be managed more effectively through regular check-ups and early intervention. Our experienced GP’s are here to help men maintain their health, helping them to detect potential health risks as early as possible by providing expert medical guidance in a confidential and supportive environment.

Health Screening & Preventative Care
Prevention is the number one factor when it comes to long-term health for men. Scheduling regular health check-ups allows our doctors to pinpoint and identify potential medical issues at the very earliest stage. Taking proactive steps to maintain your well-being is critical. We recommend that men have a checkup once every year at the very least. Regular health screening for men can help detect common conditions such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes before they are allowed to become far more serious problems. Your GP’s assessment can also provide valuable insights into possible hereditary conditions that may run in your family. These important insights, in turn, allow for that all important early intervention.
Heart Health & Blood Pressure Monitoring
One of the leading health concerns for men is heart health. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains a leading cause of death and disability amongst men in Ireland. High blood pressure (hypertension) and high cholesterol are significant risk factors for heart attacks and strokes.
At HearMed Medical Centre, our doctors provide assessments of your heart health, monitor your blood pressure in addition to checking your cholesterol level. Our doctors also provide lifestyle guidance to help limit your risk of heart disease and can prescribe medication for you as needed or refer you to a specialist for further investigation if deemed necessary. Our priority is your health. We want you to get the best treatment possible.
Prostate Health & Screening
Prostate issues, including benign enlargement and prostate cancer, are common in men over 50. Routine prostate screening helps detect any abnormalities early, improving treatment outcomes. Our doctors can discuss any concerns you may have about prostate health, perform initial assessments, and arrange further testing if needed. If you experience urinary difficulties, such as frequent urination, weak flow, or discomfort, it’s important to seek medical advice.
The Role of PSA Testing in Prostate Cancer Detection
One of the key tools in early prostate cancer detection is the Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) blood test. PSA is a protein produced by the prostate gland. Elevated PSA levels in the blood may indicate prostate abnormalities. These abnormalities include infection, enlargement, or cancer. While a high PSA level does not always mean cancer is present, it can serve as an early warning sign that further investigation is needed. A PSA level above 4.0 ng/mL is generally considered a little too high and may warrant further investigation. At HearMed Medical Centre, we offer PSA testing as part of routine prostate health assessments. We can arrange further diagnostic tests as necessary, including digital rectal examination (DRE) or a hospital referral for a prostate biopsy to determine the cause of elevated PSA levels. Our doctors will guide you through the process, so you can make informed decisions about your prostate health.
Testosterone & Hormonal Health
Hormonal imbalances in men (including low testosterone levels) can lead to feelings of exhaustion, reduced sex drive, mood swings, and muscle loss. If you are experiencing these types of symptoms and suspect you may have low testosterone, we can carry out blood tests to gauge your hormone levels and explore treatment options. Our doctors will provide you with guidance on how best to manage symptoms of hormonal changes naturally through diet, exercise and lifestyle adjustments.
Erectile Dysfunction & Sexual Health
Sexual health forms an extremely important part of men’s overall well-being. Despite this many men are reluctant to seek medical assistance for issues such as erectile dysfunction (ED) or premature ejaculation. These conditions, in many cases, can often be linked to underlying medical concerns like diabetes, heart disease or possibly even stress. At HearMed Medical Centre you can confidentially discuss any concerns related to your sexual health. Our GPs can assess the root cause of your issue(s) and recommend appropriate treatment options, including lifestyle changes, medication or specialist referral (where required).
Mental Health & Stress Management
Mental health is just as important as physical health. Lots of men can experience stress, anxiety or depression but hesitate in seeking support. Our doctors provide a highly confidential environment where you can discuss your mental health concerns, whether they stem from pressures of work, relationship difficulties, or general challenges that life presents. Our doctors can offer practical strategies and helpful lifestyle advice. Where necessary, your GP may refer you for counselling or psychiatric support to help you manage stress and restore and maintain emotional well-being.
Weight Management & Nutritional Advice
Maintaining a healthy weight can help in the prevention of a range of conditions including heart disease, diabetes, and joint problems. If you are struggling to manage your weight, our doctors can provide advice on nutrition, guidance on exercise and lifestyle changes. For patients at risk of health concerns related to obesity, we offer medical assessments and structured weight-loss plans to help you achieve and retain a healthier lifestyle.
Urinary Health & Kidney Function
Urinary issues, such as frequent urination or difficulty passing urine, can be an indication of underlying health conditions. Problems such as kidney disease, bladder infections or possible prostate issues need to be addressed to prevent complications. Our GPs provide thorough assessments and diagnostic tests to determine the cause of your urinary symptoms and offer treatment plans to improve your health and alleviate discomfort.
Sports Medicine & Injury Care
If you play sports or enjoy occasional physical activity, injuries can happen. Our GPs provide assessments and treatment for sports-related injuries, including muscle strains, joint pain and ligament damage. Our doctors offer expert advice on injury prevention, rehabilitation and physiotherapy referrals to ensure a full recovery and help you stay active.
