GP Travel Advice

Our experienced GPs can provide you with all travel health advice you need based on your target destination. They will also take into account your personal medical history to assess potential risks that could make you particularly vulnerable to infections or illness. Your doctor will evaluate current disease outbreaks in the region you are planning to go to plus any essential entry point vaccine requirements you need to consider. Your doctor can also offer advice to you on things like antimalarial medication or travel sickness.

Vaccinations and Immunisations

Vaccinations against the following diseases are available;

  • Hepatitis A
  • Hepatitis B
  • Typhoid
  • Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Polio (Tdap)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Varicella (Chickenpox)
  • Meningitis
  • Rabies
  • Japanese Encephalitis
  • Yellow Fever

Travel Consultation Booking

We recommend booking your GP travel consultation with us at least 6 to 8 weeks before you are due to travel as some vaccines can require multiple doses that are spaced over time. While we do stock the most commonly needed vaccines, certain vaccines may need be ordered in advance and availability can vary depending on national supply at any particular time. Early booking ensures you have the necessary time to complete any vaccine courses and develop full immunity before you travel.

Previous Vaccine Records

If you’ve previously received travel vaccines from another clinic or whilst abroad, remember to bring along your vaccination records or immunisation passport to your appointment. This helps our GPs factor in what you already have and what you may still need based on your planned destination.

Occupational Health for Travel

For individuals or employees who have to travel abroad for work (e.g. healthcare, construction and aid workers) certain occupational health considerations may apply.

We provide:

  • Pre-deployment medical checks
  • Fitness-for-work assessments for international assignments
  • Vaccine requirements for occupational risk (e.g. Hepatitis B)
  • Country-specific travel health clearances

Travel Advice Resources

In addition to our clinic support, we recommend checking the latest government travel guidance from the Department of Foreign Affairs Travel Advice Centre. This site offers updated safety and security information for countries worldwide.
