Whether you’re planning a pregnancy or just exploring your options for the future, having a good understanding of your reproductive health is important.

HearMed Medical Centre provides:

  • Pregnancy Testing: We provide you with fast and accurate results.
  • Assessing Fertility: We provide expert guidance for couples trying to conceive.
  • Pre-pregnancy Health Checks: These checks are carried out to make sure you are in the best possible health before conception.
  • Ovulation Tracking and Lifestyle: Our doctors recommend adjustments that can improve fertility.

Referral options for specialist care and further evaluations can also be examined for couples facing fertility challenges.

Family Planning and Contraception

Contraceptive needs can vary substantially from one patient to another. With this in mind, we offer you a range of contraceptive choices, providing expert guidance to help you decide what the best option for you is. The family planning services we offer include:

  • Oral contraceptive pills
  • Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptives (LARCs)
e.g. contraceptive implant and intrauterine devices (IUDs).
  • Barrier methods (such as diaphragms and condoms).
  • Permanent contraceptive options (for women considering longer term solutions).

Our doctors can also provide pre-pregnancy planning consultations for women who are considering starting a family.

Sexual Health and STI Screening

Your sexual health is extremely important in the context of your overall well-being. If you have any concerns about your sexual health,  Our doctors are here to provide help and advice. Our services include:

  • Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) screening and treatment: Types of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) treated include chlamydia, gonorrhea, herpes, and HIV.
  • HPV vaccination: The HPV (Human Papillomavirus) vaccine provides protection against the HPV virus. Strains of this virus are linked to cervical cancer (and genital warts in both women and men).
  • General sexual well-being advice: Our doctors can advise you on how best to preserve your sexual health including adopting safe practices and maintaining healthy relationships.

Cervical Screening

Combined with the HPV vaccine, regular cervical screening plays a large role in the early detection and treatment of cervical cancer. Our doctors recommend regular cervical screening (every three years) for women between the ages of 25 and 65. These tests are also referred to as smear tests. These quick and simple tests check for abnormal cells in the cervix, helping prevent cervical cancer before it develops. HearMed Medical Centre encourages all eligible women to avail of these free screenings as part of their routine health checks. Our doctors will carry out the screening process and explain the results to you, providing any follow-up treatment advice (if needed). It’s important to note that cervical screening tests in Ireland are free for women aged 25 to 29 every three years, and for women aged 30 to 65 every five years. Please ensure your name is on the CervicalCheck register.

Pregnancy, Antenatal & Postnatal Care

We offer consultations for expectant mothers from the very early stages of pregnancy right up to giving birth and beyond. Our GAP maternity services include;

  • Early pregnancy consultations: Our doctors can provide guidance on nutrition, supplements (such as folic acid), and lifestyle adjustments.
  • Antenatal check-ups: These checks are provided under the Maternity and Infant Care Scheme, protecting the health of both mother and baby throughout pregnancy.
  • Postnatal assessments: These assessments are designed  for new mothers to monitor postnatal recovery and emotional welfare.

We work in conjunction with maternity hospitals and specialist providers. In doing so, we make sure you get the best possible care throughout the journey of your pregnancy.

Breast Health and Cancer Screening Advice

Breast health is a critical aspect of women’s overall healthcare. Although most breast lumps detected usually prove to be benign (not cancerous), it’s important to always have unusual lumps medically evaluated. Early detection is crucial when it comes to the successful treatment of breast cancer. Our breast health services include:

  • Breast examinations: Doctor examination and guidance on how to conduct your own self-examinations.
  • Referral for mammograms: Where necessary, your doctor may refer you to a hospital for a mammogram. This type of referral is more likely if you are over 50 years of age or have a family history of breast cancer.
  • Maintaining breast health advice: Your doctor can offer you advice on best practices when it comes to your breast health maintenance including lifestyle tips and nutritional recommendations.

Bone Health and Osteoporosis Screening

As women get older, especially after menopause when estrogen levels are declining, there is an increased risk of developing osteoporosis (a disease that weakens your bones).

Our doctors provide:

  • Osteoporosis risk assessments: This type of assessment is particularly important for postmenopausal women.
  • Bone density scans (DEXA scans): Specialist referrals as needed.
  • Preventative osteoporosis advice: Your doctor’s recommendations can include advice on calcium and vitamin D levels depending on blood test results and possibly some age appropriate weight-bearing exercise suggestions to increase bone strength.

Menstrual Health and Menopause Support

Menstrual periods typically last four to seven days and typically occur roughly every 28 days. Hormonal changes in your body can affect you in many ways. Some women can experience irregular periods, heavy periods and/or painful cramping during their periods. Our doctors help and provide treatment for women at all stages of their life who experience challenging symptoms during their period cycle.  Our doctors provide compassionate care and tailored treatments adapted to the needs of each individual patient. These include treatments for:

  • Heavy or irregular periods.
  • Painful menstruation (dysmenorrhea).
  • Premenstrual syndrome (PMS).
  • Endometriosis and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
  • Perimenopause and menopause symptoms, including hot flashes, mood swings, and sleep disturbances.

For women going through menopause, we offer hormone replacement therapy (HRT) consultations, diet and lifestyle recommendations plus advice of any helpful alternative treatment options that may be helpful.
